Versailles
Explore the stunning Château de Versailles. The jewel of 17th century France was originally a hunting lodge from 1623. It is now considered to be the most prestigious ex-royal residence of any court in Europe. Your visit will include the Royal Apartments, Marie-Antoinette’s and Louis XVI bedrooms, the Chapel, the Hall of Mirrors and the Royal gardens and fountains. During the summer months a picnic can be arranged at the Petite Venise with the opportunity to rent bicycles to ride over to the Hamlets, the Petit Trianon and the Grand Trianon (Marie Antoinette’s private residences).
Loire Valley
The Chateau of Blois is not only one of the most prestigious Renaissance monuments in France but also a brilliant illustration of the evolution of the French architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. It has a great royal history from Louis XII who built the oldest part of the chateau to Francois I who added the renaissance wing with the unique open circular staircase.
The Château de Cheverny is a grand estate which has been in the same family for over six centuries. Visitors can appreciate the splendour and delight of real life in a castle.
The Chateaux de Amboise is perched on a headland overlooking the Loire, this historical French landmark surrounded by landscaped gardens was the residence for French kings from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Leonardo da Vinci’s tomb is preserved at the château.
Normandy
